Since getting the CBC edition of 'Strangers to the Marsh' I gave my Goodchild edition to a friend. I'll try to borrow it to compare, and see it the Goodchild version is abridged.

Note: Following Elizabet Williams' enquiry I've looked at the Scottie paperback edition of 'Black Hunting Whip'. I compared the first two chapters, and these have not been abridged. I shall add this edition to the 'Results' page sometime: along with the anthology including 'The Midnight Horse'.

Hurray...I have just found your website and this is a preliminary message just to say how delighted I am, and that I will keep in touch. Monica Edwards was a huge influence on me as a child, but I fear the rest of my life has been spent wishing I could live up to the role models set by Tamzin and Lindsey! Best wishes for now, Jan.

What a delight to find this website! I was writing out some reminiscences of my childhood - much of which was taken up with reading books about horses. Wish for a Pony was the second such book - Black Beauty was the first. Thank you for bringing back a flood of wonderful memories of this and other "horsey" books for me.

John Just discovered your Monica Edwards site and am REALLY enjoying it. Re: Abridged? My 2 copies (1 Armada pbk, 1 hardback) of "Wish for a pony" are different, but I'm not sure whether actually abridged. The chief difference is that what Tamzin speaks in italics in Armada, she speaks in VERY IRRITATING CAPITALS in the hardback! When I get a chance I'll re-check. Jane Jane

Nothing to do with Armada - thought you'd like to know that Killer Dog was serialised in Children's Newspaper in 16 parts from 28/3/59 - 12/9/59 inclusive, illustrated with photos from the film. David

Fantastic website, very informative about the abridgement of certain editions. Just thought I would let you know that the Goodchild publications of 'THE WHITE RIDERS' and 'CARGO OF HORSES'have certainly been abridged as well as those mentioned on your list. Regards Harriet
