Meet in the public car park at Rye Harbour
for the second of our special
Monica Edwards Centenary Celebration Events



10.45 The Walk sets off from the car park, postcode TN31 7TT.
This will be a short and gentle walk of just one and a
half hours, over level paths and roadways, and suitable
for those with a moderate level of fitness. We shall be
exploring locations within the village associated with
Monica's life and novels, including the grave of the crew
of the Mary Stanford.

12.15 Walk returns for the lunch break. There will be ample
time to eat picnics or to use the village facilities where hot
meals can be ordered, there are two pubs;

14.15 Visit to the Royal National Lifeboat Institute Rye Harbour
Lifeboat. Our hosts will be the volunteer crew who will
tell us about their work. They rely on contributions from
the public to maintain this service.
Subject to operational requirements on the day -obviously!

15.15 The Old Vicarage. Following its recent restoration the new
owners have invited us to visit their home which is run as
a bed and breakfast business (Tel. 01797 222088).
Tea will be served at £7 each with a choice of teas, or coffee,
a home made scone, cake and shortbread, with jam and
local cream.
